RaVen X and his companions had traveled north to the lands of Lordearon, stopping briefly in the outskirts of a small town. Katie and the Trolls decide to travel ahead to Dalaran to get better reconnisance on the plaguelands. Now that Arthas and the Scourge were dealt with, Raven's main concern was the Dark Ranger, Lady Sylvanas and her Forsaken ones. Raven knew that if he and his warriors plunged into the Forsaken lands without knowing exactly what he was dealing with, he could easily fall prey to Sylvanas, just as so many others had. Even demons, and many Lordearon survivalist leaders. He also knew that a large number of Azeroth Trolls had fallen under the Forsaken's possession. Zuljin and Voljin remained confident that they could free their enslaved people with the enchantress Katie's help. Raven and Chase remained behind to set up outpost on the lands infront of them. While Chase and his men began construction on the base, Raven set out alone on a short range exploration route. He came apon a large hill. A woman stood atop the hill. It looked like Katie. "Katie! There you are. Where is Zuljin? What did you..." The woman turned around. It was not Katie. "Oh. I appologize. I thought you were someone el.....wait. Jaina?"
"???" Raven got closer to the woman.
"Jaina Proudmoore! What are you doing here??"
"Who are you, warrior?"
"Its me, Raven! Remember? You, me and Kael'thas used to play together as kids when we were students of magic."
"Raven......RaVen X?? Oh my gosh, it IS you!! How did you...where did.....I can't believe you're alive! I haven't seen you since Uther expelled you for studying summoning spells! Where have you been?" She asked, excitedly.
"I returned to Stormwind Keep after my expulsion, and I continued my study of the elements. I've progressed very strongly in that study, and I've even started my own sect of magisters who will the elements aswell. What about you? Whats your story?"
"Well, ever since Arthas's treachery against his father, I've been leading the bulk of Lordearon's survivors in Kalimdor. We returned just recently when we recieved word that Arthas was killed by human forces."
"It's true. Arthas is dead. I slew him myself. I am...sorry, Jaina. I know how close you and Arthas once were. It's a shame what happened to him."
"Don't worry about that, Raven. What's done is done. Arthas chose the path he took. I have no pity for him. Say, do you have a base nearby? I'd love to see this magister sect you spoke of."
"Of course. Lets go." Raven and Jaina returned to his base by means of Jaina's Mass Teleportation spell. When they returned, Chase gave report that the base was nearly finished and a new Sol Sanctum had just finished being erected. Jaina rushed over to have a look.
"I must say, I'm impressed Raven. When it comes to magic, that isn't an easy thing to do. Without the High Elves or the Kirin Tor, the Alliance will be in grave need of your students. Will you help us?" She asked.
"Of course, Jaina. That was the main reason I began this project. I knew that Lordearon would need some mystic help."
"Well....allow me to be the first to thank you, on behalf of the Alliance of Lordearon."
"You're perfectly welcome...milady." Raven and Jaina spent a little time catching up in the safty of Raven's base. Vast numbers of troops and adepts were being trained, and new technologies were being researched. Raven explained to Jaina all that had been happening within the past few weeks, about Katie and the battle in the Outlands. About Zuljin and the Trolls. About the concern of necromancy in the plaguelands.
"Katie? The Enchantress??" Jaina exclaimed.
"You know her?"
"Of course! She was one of the Kirin Tor's best students."
"Yeah. You two look quite a bit alike. You can understand why I thought you were her when I found you on that hill. Say, what were you doing up there?" Raven asked.
"I was overlooking a nearby township. Rumors say that Sylvanas the Forsaken has turned the town into an outpost for her Forsaken troops." She told him. "Oh! That reminds me. I have a large military base to the west. There is a paladin there named Dagren. I have a letter for him telling my whereabouts and my status report. Would you deliver it to him while I further inspect your students here?"
"Certainly. I'll see that he gets it." With that, Raven took the letter, a cadre of knights and set off to the west.
While traveling, Raven and his troops were stopped by a small sect of elves.
"Halt, human." The blood elf lieutenant said.
"Oh. Eshela do, good elf. What brings you to these parts?" Raven said kindly.
"Save it, mortal. You have a lot of nerve approaching us after what your people did you our kind." The lieutenant said gruffly.
"Easy, my friend. I know our races have had a bit of a falling out, but I assure you..."
"Thats enough. You're coming with us. Come quietly, or we will kill you." The elf interupted.
"Please, I don't mean any harm. Just let us pass and we'll be out of your way."
"Times up. Endowina, Blood Elves! Attack!" The blood elves advanced on Raven and his troops and began to seige Raven's knights.
"Damn it. Defend yourselves, men!" Raven's knights began to counter the elves assault and with a little aid of Raven's magic, they cleared out the seiging blood elves. "I didn't want to do this. I sincerally hope I won't have to ever again." Raven said through his teeth. "Men.....lets move on." In a little time, Raven and his troops reached a human base. They were granted entrance by the guards. Raven searched and found an elderly paladin. "Greetings, brother. I bear a message from your mistress, Lady Jaina. She is safe, at my base." The paladin took the letter and read it carefully.
"Ah yes. Raven, is it? Thank you my brother. We had a message for Jaina aswell. We discovered that Sylvanas has indeed taken over the nearby town and is harboring many of her Forsaken warriors there. There were also sightings of an undead elven ranger within the town's walls. We believe it may be Sylvanas herself. We were awaiting Jaina's return so that we could begin an assault on this town with the aid of her magic. Say....I don't suppose I could ask you to lead the charge instead? According to the report, you have plenty of able-bodied mages yourself. What do you say, brother?" Dagren asked kindly.
"Of course, Dagren. I will ralley my warriors as soon as I return, and we will attack the town at dawn. You have my word that this outpost will fall before me. Good day, brother."
"May the light guide your path, RaVen X." With that, Raven and his knights returned to the base. Raven wasted no time in prepairing his troops for the battle ahead. When the time was right, Raven lead the charge, and a small army of foot soldiers, knights, and adepts followed behind. They marched several miles, cutting down hostile creatures in their wake. Raven halted his army when he spotted a lone human soldier surrounded by ghouls.
"Men, that soldier is under attack by the undead. Hold on, warrior. We will aid you!" As soon as Raven and his troops got close enough, the footman spun around pointing his blade towards Raven.
"Don't move, buddy. Lady Sylvanas gave us strict orders to keep all outsiders off of her land. So get lost, or get dead. Whats it gonna be?" Raven backed away.
"Oh no...men, this one is beyond our help. ....TO ARMS!" The army behind Raven quickly advanced on the Forsaken footman and his ghoul companions. Raven watchin in horror as his men tore the unlucky footman apart. "Sylvanas will pay for this." Raven and his troops wasted no time. When the town was within visibility, they began the charge. A call to arms was issued from within the town. Before Raven could even reach the city walls, humans, ghouls, banshees, ogres, trolls, gnolls, murlocs and other creatures started pouring out the gates with their sites set on Raven and his army. Raven ordered his men to show no mercy. He and his forces tore through the outpost's offense, cutting down anything that flashed an evil eye. The town gates were destroyed. Knights and adepts poured into the town, leveling buildings that hid more Forsaken warriors.
Hours passed. Raven stood among the flames that twisted around the town's buildings. Only a few adepts remained alive. In the distance across town, Raven saw a figure move. He rushed to catch it. He used his Wind summon to catch the shadow. A swift Tempest Hawk was summoned forth. It pursued the thing, and once close enough, it drove its talons into the creatures arm, halting it. Raven caught up. "Don't move." The creature drew an arrow and shot Raven's hawk through the chest, dissipating it. "...I found you." The figure stepped forth. A Dark Ranger aimed her bow straight at Raven's head. Raven dashed forth just as the ranger let loose the arrow. Her aim was true, but Raven's Sol Blade was swift. He struck the arrow in midair, dashing it to splinters. The ranger made an attempt to strike Raven with the blunt of her bow. Raven countered, sliced the bow in two, and slashed the ranger across the chest. "It's done, Sylvanas. You're reign in Lordearon is over." The ranger chuckled with weak breath.
"Foolish human. I am not Lady Sylvanas. My name is Allerin Shadowswift." The ranger said. Raven was confused. "Did you really think Sylvanas was the only Forsaken Dark Ranger? Hahahahahaha!! Lady Sylvanas still lives! Glory to the Forsaken!!" Raven quickly decapitated the ranger, silencing her. He stood amongst the distruction, discontent with this discovery.
"Where are you Sylvanas?"
